Destructive Steps is the flagship event of Destructive Steps Dance Association Inc. (DSDA) — a grassroots, community-led non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting street dance culture in Australia. Since its inception in 2009, the festival has evolved into Australia’s largest street dance competition, held annually over four days in Sydney.

This festival includes:

The Festival actively collaborates with local creatives and small businesses to celebrate and sustain the street dance community. From hiring local DJs, photographers, videographers, and graphic designers, to partnering with independent studios, fashion labels, and food vendors, the festival creates meaningful paid opportunities while reinvesting directly into the creative economy. By spotlighting grassroots talent and supporting small business owners through vendor stalls, activations, and cultural programming, Destructive Steps not only showcases street dance — it strengthens the broader ecosystem that surrounds it.

AMELIA DUONG

Co-Director, Creative, Community & Culture

Amelia (She/Her) is a street dancer and event director/organizer at DSDA Inc., with a deep appreciation for various street dance styles, particularly Locking and Waving. Her approach emphasizes personal expression, style, and contextual understanding as she continues to evolve and experiment in her practice. Amelia is an active member of the local street dance community, participating in battles, showcases, and jams, while also teaching, mentoring, consulting, and directing various community initiatives and dance events.

ALICE 'ARISSE' TAUV

Co-Director, Production & Operations

Arisse Tauv (She/They) is a professional DJ, street dancer, teacher, community leader, and event producer based on Gadigal Land, Eora Nation. With a career rooted in street dance, they are influenced by its core values of collaboration, adaptability and authenticity, and infuses these principles into every facet of her work across all disciplines.
